Small Vessel Monitoring & Inspection Program

The goal of Transport Canada´s Small Vessel Monitoring & Inspection Program (SVMIP) is to enhance the safety of small passenger vessels that are not more than 15 gross tons and carry no more than 12 passengers. Commercial fishing vessels are not included in the SVMIP.

Decals are issued by Transport Canada as part of the Small Vessel Monitoring and Inspection Program after a vessel´s critical safety features have been checked. Vessels displaying decals will be easily identifiable by passengers as being regularly verified for compliance with safety measures.
