Meet James Fraser! After more than 20 years serving in the Royal Canadian Navy, followed by a second career in banking, he is now into his third career. Since 2016, he has been a volunteer with the Port Colborne Marine Auxiliary Rescue (POCOMAR) and has recently been promoted to Central Operations Manager for the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary Central & Arctic (CCGA-C&A) Region.

James is very proud to be a volunteer within the CCGA and he takes his new role with an equal level of pride, promoting professionalism through training so volunteers are prepared for challenges and the unexpected. He recalled the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald in 1975 and the tragic Swiss Air incident in 1998 and reflected on the deep and lasting impacts of these incidents had, including the many volunteers who responded.

He recognizes the great importance of recruitment, retention and providing members with specialised training! Thank you James for your leadership in the CCGA!
